Degree of protection
IP level
The IP level (or "protection level") is defined in the international standard EN 60529 (British BS EN 60529:1992, European IEC 60509:1989). They are used to define the level of sealing effect to prevent the invasion of foreign matters (tools, dirt, etc.) and moisture.
The first digit is the degree of protection against solid foreign matter.
The second digit is the degree of protection against moisture entry.
Example: IP67 (dustproof, can be briefly immersed in water).
